Most revered Chief Guest of the day, Air Commodore Amar Ahuja, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Avadi and Chairman VMC KV AFS Avadi ; Madam Mamtha Ahuja, president AFWWA , first lady AFS Avadi,honourableVMC members, dignitaries of the Air Force, Principals of neighboringVidyalayas, Shri V Ganesan, Principal KV HVF Avadi, Smt. N Valarmathi, Principal KV CRPF Avadi, respected guests and  parents, dear staff of my KV AFS Avadi family and beloved children,

It’s my proud privilege and pleasure to welcome all of you on the 53rd Annual Day of KV AFS Avadi .

At the outset let me express my gratitude to our HonorableChairman VMC, Air Commodore Amar Ahuja and Madam Mamta Ahuja for accepting our invitation and for their motivational presence here.

with a heart full of joy and pride I am very proud to inform that our Chairman Air Commodore Amar Ahuja, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Avadi has been promoted as Air Vice Marshal -a very prestigious and a very responsible post given to one of the most deserving sons of India. We are proud to have been led by you. Your keen observation, your words of wisdom and your unfailing support have helped KV AFS Avadi to move from strength to strength. We will be forever grateful to you.

We are beholden to our Guest of honour, Madam Mamta Ahuja, President AFWWA for her cheerful supporting presence here, today.

 I express my deep appreciation to our VMC members for encouraging us in all our endeavours and my heartfelt thanks to the Principals for their constant support and motivation.

‘The destiny of a nation is born in the classrooms’

We have always been committed to create an environment in the school which helps the young minds to blossom and provide a platform for individual thinking and holistic development of each child’s personality.

 We set standards and goals for ourselves and strive to achieve excellence in them – be it in the area of academics, sports, co-curricular activities, leadership and more.

The Annual Report showcases the achievements and glories of our school, undoubtedly, but also makes us think about our shortcomings. On this day I feel elated to present you the Annual report of the Vidyalaya for 2017-18


I feel proud to inform you all that our Vidyalaya achieved excellence in academics in 2017-18.

 The pass percentages in the X andXII Board examswere 99.4 and100 respectively. In class X 43% of the students secured above 75% and in class XII 56% of the students secured above 75%.

AmarSingh was the topper inthe X Board Exam and secured a total of 97%. Anjali Sara Markosewas the topper in XII science streamwith a percentage of  96.20 andD.H.Hariniws the topper of commerce streamsecuring 95.40% .

We are very proud to say that two of our students SomosiktaNayak and ShivaduttaNayak scored high marks of 548 and 546 in the NEET and around 20 students have qualified in it.

Sports and Games

Students were given ample opportunities to prove their mettleat the school, cluster, regional and national level competitions in various sports and games were conducted.Apart from organizing Vidyalaya level inter house athletic events and games, our Vidyalaya was the venue for cluster level under 17 & 19 cricket, Regional Taekwondo tournament for boys and girls and Pre- national Taekwondo coaching. 33 of our students were qualified for KVS Nationals in 2017-18. Two of our students were selected for SGFI.

In Taekwondo one student got gold medal , 3 students got silver and 4 students got bronze medal


In boxing one student got bronze medal



One student  participated in the yoga competition at the national level.


Shrudhi Pradeep of Class XII won  two gold medals in the 22ndKensho Open International Karate Championship conducted in Sri Lanka during September 2017.


SWASTH BACHCHE, SWASTH BHARAT programme is being carried out in the Vidyalaya. This will provide a comprehensive and inclusive report card for children covering all age groups. Making students, teachers and parents aware about the importance of good health and fitness and encouraging 60 minutes of play each day is an objective of the programme.



Co-curricular Activities

Various co-curricular activities were planned and organized systematically throughout the year. House wise and open House competitions were conducted every Saturday in events like Solo song, mock advertisement, calligraphy, recitation, drawing and painting, extempore, Debate, group song, group dance, Cryptic Quiz etc.

Students participate regularly in an online programme ‘Routes to Roots’ wherein practice is given by eminent artists in the disciplines of Music-both Vocal and Instrumental, Classical and folk dance, Yoga and Theatre.

We are very happy to announce that the students of our Vidyalaya, V Shweta, V Shreya, Malavika, D Janani, D Jayadharini, KS Harini, G.Sri Jaya Vaishnavi and A Akhalyabagged the Special Prize in Bharat Natyam in the Virsa 71st Independence Day Cultural competition conducted at the All India level. These girls also won 3rd prize in the inter-school Bharat Natyam Competition conducted by AMN Global group for all the schools of Chennai..

Hindi Pakhwada competitions

A number of competitions were conducted in September 2017 in connection with Hindi Pakhwada and both students and teachers took part in the competitions and won prizes

Social Science Exhibition

Our Vidyalaya was the venue for the cluster level Social Science Exhibition during August 2017. 50 students of our vidyalaya participated in the cluster level competitions. 6 students were selected to participate in the regional level competitions conducted in Pondicherry. 5 projects were selected at the Regional level.

Science Exhibition

In the Science Olympiad, 15 students were selected to participate at the zonal level.

Mohit Das of XIIA and Akash Kumar of IXD represented K.V, AFS at the 45TH National Jawaharlal Nehru Science exhibition JNNSMEE held at KV IIT Kanpur. Their exhibits were ‘Wave Energy’ and ‘Making Paper from Waste Materials’ respectively.


Five students of our Vidyalaya took part in the at the regional level Children Science Congress at KV, IIT . The project of Sara Baigand  team , ‘Mapping Bio Diversity’ wasselected and she participated in the National level at KV Dehradun

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers conducted exams in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 12 students received merit certificates.

Students participated in the Student Scientist connect programme CSIR-KV event named ‘Jigyasa’ during April.

Scouts and Guides

There are a total of 98 Cubs and Bulbuls and 93 Scouts and Guides in our Vidyalaya.

Six guides participated in the Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp  duringJuly 2017 at KV CRPF Avadi and  qualified.

Mr. G.BhuvanBabu,L.T(S)was invited by BS&G National Training Centre to assist Assistant Leader Trainers Course held at NTC Pachmarhi

Carolina,  Shanmati, Sowmya and  Rifat Ara, appeared for Rashtrapati Guide Testing Camp held at Dodbhallapur, Bangalore from 13-17 January 2018.

4 guides, Kaviya of 12C Hemavathy of 12A Sneha of 12A and Nivedha of12A are participating in the Pre Rashtrapati Guide testing camp at KV Annanagar


Our Vidyalaya was the venue for

·         the Cluster Level Orientation programme for the newly recruited PRTs.

·         10 days Induction  Course for the newly recruited PGTs in Chemistry from all over India

·         Subject Enrichment Programme for three days for PGTs in Chemistry of Chennai region

Counselling Sessions and Workshops

Counselling sessions by eminent persons including Mr. Manish Gupta were organized for the children. Many workshops in Career Counselling was also organized.

A workshop on emotional quotient and POCSO was organized for the teachers in two sessions.

Celebrations and Observances

Independence day, Republic day and Annual Sports day were celebrated in the Vidyalaya along with the other observances such as Grand Parent`s Day,KVS Foundation Day Thinking Day, Earth Day, Yoga Day and other important days and events.

Programme for the Primary students

Our Vidyalaya organized the Cluster level  dance and song competitions for the primary students of Avadi cluster.Tiny tots from our primary section participated in different competitions and bagged prizes.

Road Safety Police- RSP

Our students attended the camp for Road Safety Police organized by the Tamil Nadu Special Police under guidance from Assistant Commissioner of Southern Railway Police Division in 2017-18.  K.V, AFS was adjudged the best school in RSP for Chennai division.

School Excursion

The students were taken out for excursiontoChaukidani, Dakshinchitra and Mahabalipuram. Shri P Jayarajan escorted 10 students of Chennai Region to Karwar for Seema Darshanprogramee.



A KVS programmewas organized for X passed out students with activities for improving communicative skills, art and craft, career guidance and counselling, yoga, foundation courses for Class XI and skills in sports.


10 Apple I pads have been installed in 10 classrooms. Our Vidyalaya has now provisions for 20 e- classrooms including the computer labs and library.

PTA meetings were regularly organized, especially after every test to apprise the parents about the performance of their wards.



Our Vidyalaya is blessed to have an active Alumni association.The 1986 batch of students led by Shri Lokesh Gupta installed an RO plant in the Primary section of the Vidyalaya. We convey our deep appreciation to them.

Roof treatment works

Rs.32, 84,000 is deposited with MES in the first week of April 2018 for carrying out roof treatment works of the Vidyalaya


I feel proud and overwhelmed with joy to state that Mr. A. Manoharan, PGT Economics received National Award for the best teacher and the Principal KV AFS Avadiwasalso honoured with the Regional Incentive Award.

 I must tell children that great things never come from the comfort zone. Nothing will work unless you do. Believe in yourself and conquer your goals.

I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all the members of my staff with whose cooperation we have been able to carry out all programmes and academic activities. I would also like to express my sense of gratitudeonce again, to our Chairman, all our higher authorities,the parent and student community whose whole-hearted cooperation has enabled us to complete all our tasks successfully.
